The Stara šola - Natural Features Interpretation Center was established as part of the project 'Stara Šola for New Ideas' and was set up in 2019 in Jagnjenica near Radeče.

Get to know the unique natural features of the Radeče municipality

In the center, visitors can virtually experience the natural features through a film and explore the rich history of the area. Above all, however, the focus is on the unique natural features of the Radeče Municipality.

Did you know that mighty cave bears roamed these places millennia ago? Traces of that time are safely stored in the interpretation center. You can also find interesting facts here, such as the fact that in the Municipality of Radeče reigns Gašper's chestnut, the thickest domestic chestnut and also the thickest tree in Slovenia.

The center also offers the opportunity to learn more about certain natural rarities, which are so rare and endangered in their natural habitats that their locations remain hidden. In doing so, the center makes an important contribution to the protection of natural heritage and to raising awareness of the responsibility in dealing with the environment.

Before entering the Interpretation Center of Natural Features, visitors can admire a replica of the forest cart that was once used to transport timber from the Jatna forests to the valley via the forest railway.
